São Paulo, August 2011 - Intermec, a company specialized in developing solutions for data transmission within the supply chain, announces the investment of over US$ 5 million in Brazil. This amount has been used in the last 18 months to adapt the company's factory located in Itajubá (MG).
The announcement was made during the visit of the company’s CEO, Patrick Byrne. The executive also revealed that the plant, active since 2005, will produce two more models of data collectors, totaling four fixtures. The first new Brazilian product to be marketed is the CK3, mainly used for management of assets and inventory in warehouses, factory floor and also for retail.
2011 is expected to close with a 30% increase in production, reaching more than 15 thousand units. "Brazil is a market of high importance. In the last seven years, we have invested a lot in order to grow our share. Brazilian operation today is among the five largest in the world”, explains Byrne.
Last year the company earned US$679 million worldwide, with a 20% growth in Latin America. This region is of high importance to Intermec, as it has recently registered the highest growth rates: only in the last quarter, it increased by 77%, the best global result.
